Ayyappa Temple...

Visited the famous Ayyappa temple of Bolaram ( Secunderabad ) this evening. It is the oldest temple and incidentally the first temple of Hyderabad. Some very important buildings are located opposite to this Ayyappa temple which includes Holy Trinity Church of Bolaram. Interestingly, Sardar Ballabh Bhai Patel our first defense minister had negotiated the terms of its surrender with the Nizam of Hyderabad during the annexation of Hyderabad state. Holy Trinity Church of Bolaram was funded by Queen Victoria in 1847, and therefore, Elizabeth II had visited the same church on her wedding anniversary during 1980. Ayyappa temple is located on the highway at Bolaram very close to Alwal of Secunderabad. Ayyappa temple complex Bolaram has Lord Ayyappa the presiding deity and temples of Lord Ganapathy, Lord Guruvayoorappan, Lord Shiva-Parvathy and Navagraha. The temple had been attracting large number of devotees.
The attached picture shows Lord Shiva-Parvathy.

The mind of a Genius...

Stop press
My article just published in a magazine...
( incidentally, this was my first blog )
The mind of a Genius...
Today I am going to tell you about the mind of a genius. Remember, I asked you few days back, why do the geniuses are eccentric ? One of my friends answered, "Geniuses are eccentric because when God gives you something exceptional, He takes away a little bit of what people call 'normal'." Today, I asked my friend, a topper of BITS Pilani and also a topper of IIM Ahmedabad, whether Geniuses can be made out of ordinary. The answer was to some extent yes, by making people aware about self awareness and a Genius may just be needing a tipping cajoling thrust to realize that he's actually a genius.
Well, I feel differently about a Genius. A genius mind is definitely a different mind compared to an ordinary. His perceptions about each word, each happening around us is different. He has more imagination than knowledge. He can read and understand the Psychology of others very quickly. He can calculate almost six to ten moves in advance. He can predict the results of an elections much before the psephologist can. Although, he is not a clairvoyant, he can predict the future not by palmistry, astrology or planchet, but, mere common sense and calculation. He is full of innovation, he is restless, his mind is preoccupied by hundreds of thoughts. He thinks, he sees, he feels and he visualizes differently and correctly. He can tell correctly whether a tele-serial would be a hit or not, he can predict correctly the fate of a movie at the box office much before its release. Whether a genius practices science or art, his creativity cannot be ignored, sooner or later, he will be known as a Genius..!!

Empathy...

I always remind my colleagues and subordinates, there's a subtle difference between sympathy and empathy. We as medical professionals, need to have empathy towards our patients, as empathy is the ability to mutually experience the thoughts and sympathy is only feeling for the sufferings of others.
We need to understand another person's condition from their perspective. It is the vicarious experience of feeling and thoughts of another person. God has given us this rare opportunity to heal patients. The effectiveness of the treatment provided by us may reduce quite a bit in the absence of empathy. Let us make someone today a little happier and not feel left out.

Midday meals...

Our priorities are skewed and warped. I am referring to the condition of our Government schools and hospitals. I normally see crores are being spent on infra structure development of capital cities and metros but smaller cities, towns and of course, villages are always ignored by the government. I know thousands of hungry children are sent to schools, many a times by their illiterate parents only for the lure of mid day meals given at the government schools. Hundreds die everyday for lack of proper medication at the Government hospitals. Small children and weak undernourished men and women working at construction sites and doing other menial jobs are a harsh reality which we normally see everyday and do nothing. Most of the politicians turn a blind eye to most of the problems faced by the public. We can boast of our country doing any progress only if the poorer section of our society derive any benefits with all the advancement India is making. Have you noticed, our airports are becoming ritzy but our railway platforms are the same even after many decades. Our priority should be the improvement of our government schools and hospitals, let us make our India a little better...!!

Godmen...

Do you believe in Gurus and Godmen ? I have seen people getting cured of incurable diseases after visiting Sai Baba. I have witnessed myself miracles happening after I started believing in Sai Baba as a child. I myself was married on 23 Nov, which happens to be Sai Baba's birthday. But, I always had an an element of doubt that the miracles being performed by him viz. producing vibhuti and shivlings may not stand scrutiny by any scientific surveillance. I still remember the incidence of Beatles turning to spiritualism and becoming disciples of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi and later dismissing him as a womanizer. Millions follow Sri Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and Asa Ram Bapu. But recent utterances of these Godmen viz. Govt schools are breeding ground of naxalism and Asaram advocating Bhaiyya to avoid rape speak volumes about these Godmen. What is more shocking is their supporters giving silly excuses for their utterances. But these Godmen and many more are the only source of spiritualism and transcendental knowledge for millions of Indians and foreigners, I really feel sorry for them.

Success...

A friend of mine feels that success is overwhelming joy, confidence, compassion, generosity and a smile that no one can snatch away.
Well, I feel that if any strong desire of yours becomes a reality, it is called success. If you can bring your vision to a reality, that is success. If you have patience to pursue your dreams for a life time, that's success. When you enjoy every moment of doing something then obviously you are about to taste success. If you are at peace with yourself after all your achievements, you are successful. Successful people are never scared of experimenting something new. They don't believe in living in their comfort zone. Successful people are never after money, rather it is other way around; money is always after successful people. And yes, successful people never follow others'

opinions, they make their own opinion. Successful people know the exact meaning of passion, which is not written in any dictionary or encyclopaedia.

Romance...

I always believed in Love...crazy love !
I always believed in Romance ...crazy Romance.
After nature, the best thing God created is Love.
The most beautiful thing God ever created is a Woman..beautiful woman.
Love is the reason, we wish to live longer.
Romance is inevitable in life.
Love is human nature.
Love is the instinct that fuels the spirit to survive.
Romance prepares us to adapt and evolve.
I knew the meaning of Love ever since my childhood.
Love had been my virility, love had been my vulnerability.
Romance could be felt in my every emotion, every song,
every word that comes from my heart and soul.
Who knows romance better than me...??

Writer...

Yes, I always wanted to be a writer but I was a poor reader all through my life. I rarely read any books and rarely done any serious reading. But three years ago, I joined Facebook and also started writing letters to the editor of Hindustan Times and Deccan Chronicle after reading two or three newspapers and reading everything about the concerned topic of discussion. I was pleasantly surprised when my letters started being published in HT and more than 75 letters of mine were published in a span of two years in Hindustan Times, which must have been a record.
Well, I started a Blog viz. Dr P Pradeep, merely three months ago and started writing on various topics and again, I had a pleasant surprise, when I had more than 13,000 views in those three months of blogging.
I must admit that I always admired great writers like Ampat Koshy, Archna Pant, Bina Biswas, Sayantan Gupta. I must have read almost all their posts available on Facebook. I almost developed the same madness of Dr Ampat sir, when he says he loves to write something constantly. I love reading dictionary and I must have read Oxford Dictionary countless times from cover to cover and I really pay attention to each word. My hundreds of blogs and posts may not be perfect but I am sure, my posts would make some impact in my friends' lives.

Jhansi ki Rani.....

Spent the whole day at Jhansi fort and museum. Read anything and everything about Jhansi ki Rani, Laxmibai. She was born as Manikarnika in Varanasi in 1835. She lost her mother when she was just four years old. Her father Moropant Tambe taught her literature, warfare tactics, sword fighting and horse riding. She was married to Gangadhar Rao the king of Jhansi when she was just 14. She gave birth to a male child who was named Damodar Rao but the child died at the age of four months due to illness. Gangadhar went into depression and later died. Before the king's death they had adopted a male child of their close relative and named him again as Damodar. At the time of her wedding to the king of Jhansi she was rechristened as Laxmibai. At 21 years she became a widow and started ruling Jhansi. But British had served her a notice to vacate the fort and accept annual pension of sixty thousand, which she refused. Her army of 20.000 soldiers headed by Tatya Tope fought the British but failed after three days of fierce war. Laxmibai escaped the British troops by jumping from a cliff of her fort along with her adopted son on her back while riding the horse Badal. Badal was injured by a bullet and later succumbed to the injuries. Soon Laxmibai got a helping hand from many other rebel forces and taking their help she could defeat Maharaja of Gwalior. This combined forces later had to fight a fierce battle with the cavalry regiment of British army. Rani Laxmibai fought like a brave soldier wearing an armor and fought the British fearlessly until she died. After her death British themselves praised her to be the most beautiful, fearless rebel they had ever faced.

Must watch...

Just saw the movie Commando....incredibly good action movie. I went for the movie expecting it to be some Bollywood masala movie; but I was pleasantly surprised and I would say it is better than all the Rambos of Hollywood, You just can't imagine a Hindi movie could be so good. Yes, the unnecessary songs and one item song was indeed not required for such an excellent movie. It is one man show...Vidyut Jamwal...I have not seen yet any action actor in the entire Bollywood and Hollywood better than him. He is the Best....Just don't miss this move...trust me, you might not have ever seen a better action movie than this one....I give 9/10 for this movie...Must Watch....!!

1. Here's a confession :
I watch a Telugu movie almost everyday on YouTube.
The results are amazing. My Telugu has improved tremendously.
The other day, I had gone to a photo studio, the photographer talked to me for a while and told me that he had never met a person in Hyderabad who could talk Telugu so well. Well, I must thank YouTube and the makers of great Telugu movies for my improved Telugu language skills...!!

Homemakers...!!

There are many housewives whom I know who spend most of their time watching television,  shopping, gossiping and spending lots of time on phone and Facebook. They only order servants to cook and clean and they are also least interested in teaching their children.
Children need their mothers very much during their formative years, I would strongly advice even professional ladies like doctors and engineers to spend time as a full time housewife during the formative years of their children. But once the children grow up I think it is better for the lady to pursue her career. It would be loss to the Government if Doctors and engineers chose to be permanent homemakers over their career. But yes, striking a balance between a career and being a housewife simultaneously is more challenging and exciting than being only a housewife or only a career woman.

Who is he...??

He is the quiet Hero behind all the surgeries. We wouldn't be able to do without him.

Always undisturbed, unfazed, hiding behind his mask and machine.

Similarities are amazing between an Anaesthesiologist and a father.

Just saw the movie Fast and Furious 6. The movie is full of breath taking car chases and excellent views of international cities. Tank chase was very well shown. You may enjoy the car scenes, lots of action and it may satisfy the fans of previous 5 series. Globe trotting actions scenes are worth a watch. Go for it.

Plagiarizm...

Dear friends, I am not a writer and I was not a writer. I am an Anaesthesiologist with little bit of talent in tennis, singing and mimicry. Like most of us, I used to read various updates, quotations and information from various posts and mostly copied them and sometimes cut, copy and pasted them. But few months back, I made a resolution that I won't be influenced or inspired by others posts and I shall never copy and paste any quotation or update.
Initially, it was really difficult for me to coin a single original and purely imaginative phrase of my own. But within no time, I started writing 100% original posts including jokes, quotations, poems and reviews.
I think, we need to curb our strong desire to plagiarize and start something original creative work, our world would be a better place. Happy imagining dear friends !!

Oscar Wilde...

Facebook updates and comments are interesting.
I do love to read as many posts as possible each day.
I do love to understand the mind behind each update.
I would love to dissect each update.
But most of the comments never fail to amuse me.
Most of the responses are just a "like" or a silly emoticon.
I wonder, why can't there be better comments on such interesting posts ?
Why do we just like something without analysing it ??
or do we just follow Oscar Wilde, it is better to take pleasure
in a rose than to put its root under a microscope...???

One life to live...

Last night I saw a full-length movie
while it was raining incessantly
in an open air theater
we were under umbrellas...
I call this real fun...
I call this real Life...
enjoy dear Friends...
there's only one life....!!

Eleven...

I may sound superstitious, but the number eleven had been extremely lucky to me always. All my best friends were born on the eleventh. I have joined Govt service on 11th. I have never missed giving successfully spinal anaesthesia on the very first prick if it is on 11th. Needless to say, my mobile numbers, car numbers end with 11.
I know very well that such beliefs are irrational, but can I deny the facts which I had experienced in my life ?
I love my elevenses and I never miss a break at around eleven o'clock in the morning. And yes, today is June 11. Have a great day Friends...!!

Monday 10 June 2013

Just saw the movie Aurangzeb, Interestingly, saw the entire movie under an umbrella while watching it in an open air theater. Arjun Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor and Prithviraj were good and had really performed well. Arjun in a double role was impressive. Rishi is just excellent in his acting. Loved watching Tanvi Azmi and Jackie shroff after many years. Sasha Agha has great body and was okay in her role. Rishi was brilliant. I never thought Aurangzeb name was chosen for the meaning traitor. I liked Ishaqzade and I knew Arjun is a good actor, I wish him better luck next time as this movie was a failure due to a weak storyline.

Fish prasadam for Asthma...

Fish prasadam may be just faith healing, but it has been working wonders in many cases of Asthma. Mrigasira Karthi day was on 8 June and it continued till today i.e. 9 June. Thousands had come to get relief of their chronic ailment Asthma, which has no permanent cure in Allopathy. Interestingly, asthma patients from US, UK and many states of India had come to Nampally Exhibition grounds of Hyderabad to receive the medicine which is initially fed to the murrel fish and is then swallowed by the patient, irrespective of they being vegetarian or non- vegetarian. Three doses are required for complete relief and it would entail three visits to Hyderabad.
I am an Allopathic practitioner and can't approve this type of treatment to be scientifically correct, but I also know that strong belief and faith can cure many diseases. I wish all the asthmatics visiting Hyderabad a speedy and permanent cure of their ailment.

There is nothing like bad publicity these days, interestingly. There used to be a time when people used to crave for good image and good name. But now, things are different. People want publicity for success, good or bad publicity hardly matters. Publicity is the art of attracting attention. This adage, any publicity is good publicity, holds good hundred percent in any show business.

Problems...

Everybody has problems and everybody face obstacles at every stage of life. Life without problems would be like food without spice, we need problems to enjoy life better by solving those problems. There is a solution for every problem, we just need to fine tune our problem to understand it and solve it. We need perseverance and not to be discouraged with our problems. Occasionally, taking a friend's opinion really helps and sometimes brainstorming with a group of our friends can solve many problems. And yes, we can always apply a solution of one problem at other places also with our experience. Lastly, the attitude really matters, let us welcome problems, let us welcome a great life...!!

a new day...

At any stage of life there could be a new beginning. We have to make new discoveries and look for new opportunities. We must always try to do the things which we always wanted to do, let's not postpone that. New challenges means new successes. Unless we do new things everyday, there could be slide in our quality of life. Let us forget being pessimistic and start visualizing a new beginning. Today is our best day and this year is our best year, let us start something new which we always dreamt to do. Let us make our life more interesting and let us look forward to a new beginning.

Aatma...

Just saw the movie Aatma, a thoughtful and fascinating movie. Bipasha was outstanding, may be her best role, so far. The story was unusually interesting and good & different. Full marks to the director for making this movie. Nawazuddin Siddiqui was equally good and his performance can never be forgotten. The story was superb and everybody performed extremely well. Unfortunately, the movie may not be successful at the box office as there are no item songs and other silly sex scenes. Strongly recommended.

Conversation...

I do love reading status updates of my many friends.
It gives me a feeling of having conversation with them.
Moreover, I get to know the exact mood of my friend.
I also feel strongly that by reading carefully the status updates,
we can easily assess the status of their mind, nature and
other things, which might not be known to his/her best friends.
BTW, I do enjoy conversation with finest men and women.

Slow down dear...

Let's not move so fast that we may lose sight of those who are old and frail ... or too weak and slow to keep the pace with us. Let us be conscious of their needs ... their problems ... their longings too....Archna Pant
I have been always attracted to older people...may be because, I have lost both my parents. I love to interact with them and I know that social interaction can increase their life span. I actually know their problems, I can sense their mind and know their limited physical abilities, their sorrow of losing a life partner, old friends and their inability to continue their favorite profession. Very few people realize that the older people love to be connected to the younger generation, but unfortunately the younger generation has no time for the elders and they rarely respect them.
Old age homes are not the final destination for the elderly, they need our care, our love from the heart and soul. They need us, they would love to listen to our laughter, cheer; they would love to eat with us and of course to die in the presence of their beloved children, but certainly not in an old age home...!!

Go Goa Gone...

Just saw the movie, Go Goa Gone, a funny horror movie. All the scenes and dialogues are wacky. Kunal Khemu acted really well, in fact, I always felt he is a great actor, yet to be discovered. Saif is the producer of this movie and had an interesting part to play for himself. Goa was shown very nicely, but I am sure, after seeing this movie, Goa tourism may be badly affected...!!

Don't be tongue tied....open up...

I strongly feel speaking well is more important than writing well. Yes, by writing well you may get your point across but speaking well can have better results. Speaking is the best medium of communication. I really hate people who only mumble while speaking and they don't make any effort to improve their communication skill. Speaking is the best medium of communicating our ideas and thoughts. Speaking well is essential for success in profession, life and of course in leadership. Don't you think, speaking well is good for your business, relationships and friendship ? Don't be tongue tied, open up to strangers, open up to better living and open up to a great life...!!
