Madras cafe...

Just saw the movie Madras cafe. The movie was not as good as the reviews written about the movie. It is supposed to be a work of fiction but the entire movie is based on real facts and minutest details of the actual happening. And it looks silly to be shown as a narrative to a priest with a backdrop song Maula in Urdu ( the only song in the end ). John Abraham and Siddhartha Basu acted very natural & to the perfection. Nargis Fakri was shown as a war journalist talking only in English but she looked very good in her role. I knew the entire movie before I saw the movie but otherwise many scenes could be a bit confusing to the audience. It is a different movie and worth watching it without fail.

Barasti Zindagi by Ravindra Arora...

By Ravindra Arora

Good looks...

Good looks combined with brains and hard work
may bring you success and fame
a nice face can never make up for incompetence
but confidence makes people very attractive
men are paid a premium for their height
women for their large eyes plump lips and smooth brows
Good grooming with the latest fashion goes a long way
you are likely to be granted a request even by a stranger
confidence poise and charisma go a long way...

Know your partner...

Know your partner...
Aries are bold but mostly timid to express love
Taurean asking your hobby means having crush on you
Gemini asking personal questions means something big
Cancer inviting you home to meet parents means everything
Leo may be lions but would surrender in love
Virgo loves two way affairs and never one way love
Libra letting you know their inner world means Love..
Scorpio radiates intensity of Vibes you can't miss
Sagittarius loves to be intellectually intimate
Capricorn gives only subtle hints to figure out
Aquarius loves wisecracks and sallying forth in love
Pisces never hides love you don't need gauging their love...
Have a great Sunday...!!

Strange but true...

If you are a good reader
you may not be a good writer
If you are a good listener of music
you need not be a good singer
But If you aren't a reader
you might as well forget trying to be a writer
and if you aren't a good listener of music
you might as well forget trying to be a singer...!!

D-Day....

Just saw the movie D- Day. Who says Arjun Rampal and Shruti Hassan can't act ? This movie registers their best performances...and yes, Shruti sang a beautiful song, rather the best song of this movie....Alvidaa. It is multi-starrer with Irrfan Khan and Huma Qureshi...they were too good in their role besides Rishi Kapoor who was the best. The sets and the shots were almost real..including the story and the places Viz karachi, who would say it was not...? Just don't miss it and don't forget to give it a rating of 5.

Smile...

Most of us don't concern ourselves with the condition of our teeth when we are young, until we need a Dentist to repair the damage who pulls our tooth or teeth. Smiling is one of the most attractive features in a person’s face. But neglecting the health of our teeth can result in damaging them which can lead to wiping off that beautiful smile from our face forever...

Why you must write...

Why you must write...
write not what others want to hear
but making them read what you have to say
Just write with conviction, forget the rest
writing should be a free flow of ideas
but I must admit
readers do matter for writers
having an audience or reader of your writings
clarify your own thinking
and can win an argument inside your own head
Have a great Sunday Friends...

Jannat Ki Seedhee

Loneliness

Loneliness can cause all kinds of ill health effects
it even begets more intense isolation
there's a direct biological link between being lonely
and ill health
at the same time
People think being alone makes you lonely
but being surrounded by the wrong people is the
loneliest thing in this world
Have a great Friday Friends...

Munasib...

Munasib samjho toh sirf itna bata do
tumhari aankho mein sirf mera chehra kyon hai
Munasib samjho toh sirf itna bata do
kyon meri rahen sirf tumhare ghar ki taraf kyon le jati
Munasib samjho toh sirf itna bata do
meri aankhen sirf tere kadmon ke nishan kyon dhundhtee hain
Munasib samjho toh sirf itna bata do
mere khwabon mein sirf tum kyon aati ho
Munasib samjho toh sirf itna bata do
meri saanson mein tumhari hee khushboo kyon aati hai
Munasib samjho toh sirf itna bata do
jaagte soate sirf tumhara hee khayal kyon rehta hai

who's the BEST ..??

Self taught are always the BEST
there's no university no college
better than your passion patience curiosity
keep researching practicing learning
just read google network
and believe in yourself
Have a great day Friends...

Know your man....

Men want you to be independent
but certainly not a dictator..
Men want you to be sweet and sacrificing
but certainly not a doormat..
Men want mental stimulation
but certainly not a chatterbox
Men want you to be in spotlight
but certainly not total supremacy
Men want healthy criticism
but certainly not an imperfection finder
Men want you to be bit mysterious
but certainly not mind boggling
Men want you to be adventurous
but certainly not unfaithful
And yes women do not dominate
thoughts of men all the time...

We wish you a long life...sir

Some of my friends of FB had already posted his obituary
But he is fine and recovering well
Meet tragedy king of Bollywood
Saira Bano and Dilip Kumar are still Bollywood's longest romance
he met Saira Bano, 22 years his junior, at the age of 44
Dilip Kumar didn't just essay his roles but lived them
psychiatrist told him to move on to do more cheerful roles
because these emotions seeped into his real life
Let us wish him a long life...

Happy Birthday...

Dear Friends, I don't like politics
and I am apolitical
But I would like to wish a political figure
A Happy Birthday ( 17 September )
one who sold tea as a boy at a railway station
who evokes emotions like no other
with an ability to transform every adversity into an opportunity
taking control of one of India's most developed state
with no administrative experience until then
but dumping those who helped him to go up the ladder
Lal Krishna Advani mentored Modi when he was unknown
His father Damodardas made tea at a small shop
the son would take it in a kettle to sell it to train passengers
at the Vadnagar railway station
he displayed skills at oratory even at school
Modi graduated in political science from Delhi University
and went on to do his Masters from Gujarat University
his present day identity is largely influenced by 2002 communal violence widely blamed for conspiring with Hindu rioters against Muslims
over 1,000 of whom died in that carnage
he faced the prospect of being sacked only after a few months in office
as Atal Bihari Vajpayee was deeply anguished over Gujarat carnage
But Advani came to Modi's rescue
and he never looked back.

Zanjeer...new

Just saw the movie Zanjeer..new. It you want me to write the review of this movie, very simple, let me use all the synonyms of atrocious...disgusting, deplorable, appalling...you may pardon the Telugu hero Ram Charan, but can you pardon Sanjay Dutt and Priyanka for acting like morons ? Ram Charan had no screen presence and he could not express himself well. The only scene where he was comfortable, was the last scene where he was shown dancing on a remix but unfortunately that song had dialogues of Amitabh Bachchan.

Narcissist...

Believe it or not, being a bit narcissistic may be good for you.
It increases your self worth and self esteem. Evidently, too much of self esteem could lead to pathological narcissism. Narcissists are competitive, they could be extremely motivated, tireless and relentless. Now let me tell you how a narcissist is born. They are made and manufactured by their very own friends, relatives who judged him/her repeatedly to be of no good and this emotional trauma is the aetiology( cause ) of narcissism. And yes, narcissist's eventual victory is of no use in the absence of onlookers. Facebook is full of normal narcissists and they are not pathological narcissists and it is good for them.

Smile can never run out of style
Smile is the best thing to wear.

My biggest fan...

My biggest fan in my neighborhood is a tambram( Tamil Brahmin ) lady
I overheard her telling everybody
she never met a person like me
I asked her today the reason
She told me she gets one particular vibration
when I am around
And yes she said
she never heard anyone singing Bhajans
and explaining the meanings of
difficult words simultaneously...

Facebook...

I personally feel, facebook is good, if you participate in it actively rather than being a passive user. I came on FB 4 years back, rather I was inducted into FB by my colleague surgeon, as I was depressed after my mother's demise. I was computer illiterate then. Slowly, I started making efforts in posting comments, people liked my comments very much, they advised me to write for newspapers. I started sending letters to the Editor of Hindustan Times, and was pleasantly surprised when more than 75 letters of mine were published in HT in a span of 3 years. I started writing for other magazines too and they were published. Suddenly, people started recognizing my name and face. Well, yesterday, I had been to a puja pandal and I was given a celebrity status...it was only because of my writings and Facebook...

To sir, with Love...

" The best teachers are those who show you where to look, but don't tell you what to see. " Alexandra K. Trenfor.
This could be one perspective, but unless you tell your students what to see and explain he/she may miss the point altogether. Many a times, eyes see only what the mind knows.
Education is not what to think, but how to think.
Well, that is another perspective. A new study shows that students learn much better through an active, iterative process that involves working through their misconceptions with fellow students and getting immediate feedback from the instructor.
Interestingly, most of the teachers and extremely intelligent professors fail miserably to communicate well with their students. I find many a times, the professor keeps the microphone at three feet distance from his mouth when he is addressing a large gathering. Many teachers are nothing short of geniuses but their accent and diction is atrocious and they mumble their words and make their words difficult to understand.
Teachers should know that sound and adequate light is a must while delivering a lecture. They should know the IQ, mental predisposition, fears, hopes, likes and behavior of their students to get the best results.
Otherwise, most of the teaching and lectures are ineffective and a waste of time because the students remain at the same level of knowledge as they were before the teaching.

Keep dreaming...

When people ask you
how are you doing
always say excellent
The loudest voice in this world
is our inner voice
it can work for you always
Tell your mind
You will succeed at whatever you're doing now
The more you use your creativity
the more, you'll develop it.
Do the things, you always wanted to do.
Keep dreaming, unless you dream you can never do it.
And never ever give up.

Parineeti...??

Can any of my erudite and Hindi Scholar friends clarify my " Desi " doubt and tell me the meaning of Parineeti ( Chopra ...of Shudh Desi fame ). Interestingly, the actress herself admits that her parents named her Parineeti after they watched Prakash Jha's 1986 film..Parinati.
Well, Parinati means inevitable. And, Parineet hona means ...to end in. Frankly, there's no meaning in the dictionary by name Parineeti..!!
And yes, I checked my Pocket Hindi Dictionary too...I found, Parineet ( not Parineeti ) means Married...and Parineeta ( again not Parineeti ) means married lady...!!

Wanna improve your pronunciation...??

The Chaos
by G. Nolst Trenite' a.k.a. "Charivarius" 1870 - 1946

Dearest creature in creation
Studying English pronunciation,
I will teach you in my verse
Sounds like corpse, corps, horse and worse
I will keep you, Susy, busy,
Make your head with heat grow dizzy.
Tear in eye your dress you'll tear,
So shall I! Oh, hear my prayer,
Pray, console your loving poet,
Make my coat look new, dear, sew it!
Just compare heart, beard and heard,
Dies and diet, lord and word,
Sword and sward, retain and Britain.
(Mind the latter, how it's written).
Made has not the sound of bade,
Say said, pay-paid, laid, but plaid.
Now I surely will not plague you
With such words as vague and ague,
But be careful how you speak,
Say break, steak, but bleak and streak.
Previous, precious, fuchsia, via,
Pipe, snipe, recipe and choir,
Cloven, oven, how and low,
Script, receipt, shoe, poem, toe.
Hear me say, devoid of trickery:
Daughter, laughter and Terpsichore,
Typhoid, measles, topsails, aisles.
Exiles, similes, reviles.
Wholly, holly, signal, signing.
Thames, examining, combining
Scholar, vicar, and cigar,
Solar, mica, war, and far.
From "desire": desirable--admirable from "admire."
Lumber, plumber, bier, but brier.
Chatham, brougham, renown, but known.
Knowledge, done, but gone and tone,
One, anemone. Balmoral.
Kitchen, lichen, laundry, laurel,
Gertrude, German, wind, and mind.
Scene, Melpomene, mankind,
Tortoise, turquoise, chamois-leather,
Reading, reading, heathen, heather.
This phonetic labyrinth
Gives moss, gross, brook, brooch, ninth, plinth.
Billet does not end like ballet;
Bouquet, wallet, mallet, chalet;
Blood and flood are not like food,
Nor is mould like should and would.
Banquet is not nearly parquet,
Which is said to rime with "darky."
Viscous, Viscount, load, and broad.
Toward, to forward, to reward.
And your pronunciation's O.K.,
When you say correctly: croquet.
Rounded, wounded, grieve, and sieve,
Friend and fiend, alive, and live,
Liberty, library, heave, and heaven,
Rachel, ache, moustache, eleven,
We say hallowed, but allowed,
People, leopard, towed, but vowed.
Mark the difference, moreover,
Between mover, plover, Dover,
Leeches, breeches, wise, precise,
Chalice, but police, and lice.
Camel, constable, unstable,
Principle, disciple, label,
Petal, penal, and canal,
Wait, surmise, plait, promise, pal.
Suit, suite, ruin, circuit, conduit,
Rime with "shirk it" and "beyond it."
But it is not hard to tell,
Why it's pall, mall, but Pall Mall.
Muscle, muscular, gaol, iron,
Timber, climber, bullion, lion,
Worm and storm, chaise, chaos, and chair,
Senator, spectator, mayor,
Ivy, privy, famous, clamour
And enamour rime with hammer.
Pussy, hussy, and possess,
Desert, but dessert, address.
Golf, wolf, countenance, lieutenants.
Hoist, in lieu of flags, left pennants.
River, rival, tomb, bomb, comb,
Doll and roll and some and home.
Stranger does not rime with anger.
Neither does devour with clangour.
Soul, but foul and gaunt but aunt.
Font, front, won't, want, grand, and grant.
Shoes, goes, does. Now first say: finger.
And then: singer, ginger, linger,
Real, zeal, mauve, gauze, and gauge,
Marriage, foliage, mirage, age.
Query does not rime with very,
Nor does fury sound like bury.
Dost, lost, post; and doth, cloth, loth;
Job, Job; blossom, bosom, oath.
Though the difference seems little,
We say actual, but victual.
Seat, sweat; chaste, caste.; Leigh, eight, height;
Put, nut; granite, and unite.
Reefer does not rime with deafer,
Feoffer does, and zephyr, heifer.
Dull, bull, Geoffrey, George, ate, late,
Hint, pint, Senate, but sedate.
Scenic, Arabic, Pacific,
Science, conscience, scientific,
Tour, but our and succour, four,
Gas, alas, and Arkansas.
Sea, idea, guinea, area,
Psalm, Maria, but malaria,
Youth, south, southern, cleanse and clean,
Doctrine, turpentine, marine.
Compare alien with Italian,
Dandelion with battalion.
Sally with ally, yea, ye,
Eye, I, ay, aye, whey, key, quay.
Say aver, but ever, fever.
Neither, leisure, skein, receiver.
Never guess--it is not safe:
We say calves, valves, half, but Ralph.
Heron, granary, canary,
Crevice and device, and eyrie,
Face but preface, but efface,
Phlegm, phlegmatic, ass, glass, bass.
Large, but target, gin, give, verging,
Ought, out, joust, and scour, but scourging,
Ear but earn, and wear and bear
Do not rime with here, but ere.
Seven is right, but so is even,
Hyphen, roughen, nephew, Stephen,
Monkey, donkey, clerk, and jerk,
Asp, grasp, wasp, and cork and work.
Pronunciation--think of psyche--!
Is a paling, stout and spikey,
Won't it make you lose your wits,
Writing "groats" and saying "grits"?
It's a dark abyss or tunnel,
Strewn with stones, like rowlock, gunwale,
Islington and Isle of Wight,
Housewife, verdict, and indict!
Don't you think so, reader, rather,
Saying lather, bather, father?
Finally: which rimes with "enough"
Though, through, plough, cough, hough, or tough?
Hiccough has the sound of "cup."
My advice is--give it up!
The Chaos....try it...you'd love the pronunciation...!!

Aadat daalnee hai...

Aadat daalni hai mujhe...
ki duniya mein loag kavitavon aur phoolon ko
nahee pasand karte
Aaadat dalni hai mujhe
ki duniya mein ab sachchai ko
nahee pasand karte
Aadat dalnee hai mujhe
ki duniya mein ab maa baap bhai bahan
ke rishte ko
nahee pasand karte
Aadat dalnee hai mujhe
dil pyaar mohabbat jazbaat
ab duniya mein koi
nahee pasand karte
Aadat dalnee hai mujhe
bachchon ko, jaanwaron ko, paudhon ko
ab duniya mein
nahee pasand karte
Aadat dalnee hai mujhe
khoobsoorat pedh ki chhanv
pakshiyon ke chahchahane ko ab
nahee pasand karte
Aadat dalrnee hai mujhe
badhon ko pyar aur boodho ko izzat dena
nahee pasand karte
Aadat dalnee hai mujhe
ki aaj ke duniya mein sirf
ek cheez bolta hai
aur woh hai paisa
aur kuchh... loag
nahee pasand karte...

Chennai Express...

Just saw the movie Chennai Express. This could be the best performance of Shahrukh and Deepika. The songs, dances, acting and comedy are excellent. South India has been shown as never before. Interestingly, Tamil was used at many occasions with no subtitles, I could understand all the dialogues but I was wondering about north Indian audience. Shahrukh could handle even an insult about his age so very well and he could do comic scenes with excellent timing as never before. Landscape shown was too good, you fall in love with South India. All the songs were excellent, but I liked, tera rasta chhodhu na the most. Strongly recommended, just don't miss it, even if you hate SRK...trust me, you won't be disappointed.

Benagali Girls...

I have lived in almost every corner of India and can speak and understand almost all the languages of India. I find Bengali to be the sweetest language and Bengali girls are the most beautiful. They are creative and they love reading incessantly. They love singing, dancing, poetry, Golgappas( puchkas ), watching football and Dhaki dancing at Aarti dance competition of Durgo pujo. They love fish, prawns, mustard oil, singhadhas ( samosas ), loochis ( poories ), Mishty Dohee ( Yoghurt-sweetened ) and of course, Rosogullas. I forgot to mention Mosala Mudhi, aloo chaat and Rabindro Songeet. And finally, they've the poise and charm beyond imagination...!!

Main Shayar toh naheen...

Yeh tasweer aksar baten karte hain
yeh khamoshi aksar baten karte hain
yeh door ke dost aksar baten karte hain
yeh computer, mobile aur network
aksar baten karte hain

Zindagee ek imtahaan hee toh hai
Har rishta ek imtahaan hee toh hai

3.Jise aap chahte ho..
har jagah wahee dikhte hain
jise aap chahte ho
har jagah wahi sunayee dete hain
jise aap chahte ho
unki koi galtee apko nazar nahee aati
jise aap chahte ho
unke saath bitaya huva ek pal
saree zindagee
aap yaad rakhte ho....
