LUCKY MASCOT...!!

India has doubled its medal tally at 2012 London Olympics by securing 6 medals-- it got only 3 at 2008 Beijing Olympics.
I may sound a bit superstitious like many Indians, but I must give the credit of our amazing success to Ms Madhura of Banashankari, Bangalore, who walked  beside flag bearer Sushil kumar during the opening ceremony at the London Olympics. Now, I won't be surprised if the Lady Luck becomes a regular feature at all the forthcoming Sports competitions and opening ceremonies !

FOOLHARDY ACT..!!

Aswathi Muralidharan, the media coordinator for India Against Corruption that spearheaded Hazare’s 18-month long agitation alleged that all members were kept in the dark regarding the formation of a new party.
I think, Magsaysay award winner social activist Arvind Kejriwal, was the mastermind behind roping in Anna Hazare  to spearhead the national campaign against corruption earlier and also giving him this "Wrong idea" of disbanding earlier campaign and to form a new political party.
Disenchantment, allegations and strong reactions and remarks are expected end result of this foolhardy act !!

Advani's forecast: Will it come true?
Yes, it can come true - a non Congress, non BJP Prime Minister supported by one of these two principal parties. Unfortunately such governments have never lasted long.
Interestingly, just few days back, Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, Arun Jaitley had categorically denied the possibility of third front coalition. It is indeed unfortunate to note that Opposition Party is so internally vulnerable that it cannot seize this golden opportunity from UPA government dispensation.

The best two sentences which I have ever read in any newspaper for the last many years were:
1. " I would like to thank Gopi sir, my parents and DC for my winning an Olympic Medal ".
2. " I know they ( Chinese ) are scared of me, I can see it in their eyes ".
Those were the words of Hyderabad's Saina Nehwal after creating history by becoming the first Indian badminton player to win  an Olympic medal.
Saina Nehwal  of Hyderabad etched her name in India’s Olympic folklore by becoming the country’s maiden badminton medallist and the second Indian woman ever !
Heartiest Congratulations to Saina Nehwal & Heartiest Congratulations to Deccan Chronicle for sponsoring Saina Nehwal...!!   DR PENDYALA PRADEEP, ANAESTHESIOLOGIST, SECUNDERABAD.
Mr Anna Hazare's outfit made explicit the decision to take the fight to the " battlefield of politics ". But, what about the Jan Lokpal Bill ? Obviously, going mainstream into politics could be counter-productive. This means, the crusade of India Again Corruption has died its own death. It is in fact, foolish to think that people would vote for them accepting them to be incorruptible. It is also beyond imagination of anyone that this political group would change the legislature and judiciary after winning elections in 2014. Sorry Anna, if we the people sound a bit sceptical about your latest moves. DR PENDYALA PRADEEP, ANAESTHESIOLOGIST, SECUNDERABAD.

Ace marksman Gagan Narang of Hyderabad opened India’s account in the London Olympic Games by clinching the bronze medal in the men’s 10m air rifle event in London on Monday. Vishnu Vardhan of Hyderabad has won hearts before losing to second seeds in a gruelling men's doubles second round match while partnering Leander Paes.Saina Nehwal of Hyderabad has scripted Indian history on Thursday by becoming the first Indian shuttler to reach the semifinals of the Olympics.Indian challenge is still alive in the discipline as Sania Mirza of Hyderabad is set to open her campaign in the mixed doubles along with Paes.
Hyderabad should be known as "sports capital" of India with the presence of world's best sportsmen and women and also state-of-the-art facilities of international standards.   DR PENDYALA PRADEEP, SECUNDERABAD.
