A song on Mahatma Gandhi sung by Col Pendyala Pradeep anaesthesiologist

Indian Weddings...

Let me share with you, why I love Indian weddings...it starts with worship of Lord Ganesha, remover of all obstacles followed by worship of Gauri, who represents fertility and ideal marriage to Shiva, their relationship is considered to have strongest bond between a wife and a husband. The priest recites shlokas from Vedas and the couple is asked to place a paste made from cumin seeds and jaggery on each other which conveys that the relationship of married couple is inseparable. Traditional Hindu wedding is deeply meaningful and has symbolic combination of rituals and traditions. I love the idea of Agni Sakshi...Agnideva, the fire God is evoked to witness the proceedings. Hindu marriage ceremony has an event where bridegroom shows Arundhati nakshatra ( star ) to his wife. Arundhati loved and served her husband Vasishtha with all her heart. And yes, I love the tradition of Saptapadi...the bride and the groom take seven steps together symbolizing the beginning of their journey with 7 vows of togetherness besides being the best friends and eternal partners. Public Speaking...

The first thing I learnt after joining Army in 1982, the importance of public speaking which cannot be overemphasized. Before joining army, I was mostly tongue tied and was a very shy person. After joining army medical corps, I was groomed by my Commanding Officer Col later Maj Gen ( Mrs ) AnjuManchanda to become a confident speaker and I was chosen to compere the Army Medical Corps Day presentation for the first time during her command. After that, there seems to have been no looking back...I compered all the AMC Day programs and all the Pagal Gymkhana ( Annual Sports Day ) events throughout my 33 years of service in army back to back without a single interruption. I started enjoying standing up in front of a crowd and making a presentation, with all eyes and ears on me year after year. And yes, I strongly believe, without having communication skills, the ability to progress in this working world and in life, itself, would be nearly impossible. Hey beautiful, stay beautiful...!!

Hey beautiful, stay beautiful...!! To stay young and beautiful is the dream of everyone...but, unfortunately, nobody wants to take extra care to remain young, healthy and attractive. Although, I am an allopathic doctor myself, I always advice my patients to avoid medicines and surgery as far as possible. Maintain a healthy weight by eating less and doing more exercise. Exercising is proved to be a great mood booster, it can help you to reduce stress and to keep your skin looking healthy. I have been going regularly to the gym for last five decades. Avoid smoking and drinking altogether...by avoiding these two, you can have a healthy body inside and out. Try to avoid stress of any and every kind...stress causes physical changes in the body that can accelerate aging. And lastly, drink plenty of water everyday and keep smiling and laughing all the time. Every problem has a solution...Enjoy life and make every moment a memorable moment.
