The magic of Curd ( Yogurt )

I love eating Curd (Yogurt) daily, I can't imagine a meal without curd. As I child, I lived in Bengal and I loved eating Mishti Doi, Mishti doi is the speciality of Bengal prepared with thick, creamy milk and caramelised sugar. Yogurt is an essential part of a healthy diet. Fat-free yogurt or pro-biotic yogurt contains both high-quality carbohydrates and protein, making it one of the best foods for controlling blood sugar levels in our body. There is slight difference between curd and yogurt. Indian curd is made by boiling and cooling the milk to 30-40°C and adding a spoonful of curd.Yogurt is prepared using similar techniques to curd but the fermentation of the milk is done by adding two specific strains of bacteria called lactobacillus bulgaris and streptococcus thermophilus.Yogurt is a good source of calcium, phosphorus, riboflavin-vitamin B2, iodine, vitamin B12, pantothenic acid-vitamin B5, zinc, potassium, protein and molybdenum. Yogurt is also high in probiotics that can help a person live longer. The bacteria can also help boost the immune system. I may be modern in my eating habits but I consider curd rice is one of the best and comforting food for my tummy especially during hot summer days. Col Pradeep Pendyala, Anaesthesiologist

I love Tennis...

I love playing Tennis. Everything about it is great. Anyone can play Tennis. Frankly, after retirement I wanted to start a Tennis academy in Secunderabad. The friendships we make while playing Tennis is usually strong. It improves our fitness level. Tennis is definitely good for our body, mind and also in shaping our personality.Tennis is good for stress relief. It's not only a great sport to watch but also a great sport to play. Every time, we play Tennis, we fall in love with it. Let me explain, how Tennis can build our personality. It teaches us to remain calm and composed even at pretty tense times. Regular Tennis, improves our patience and persistence. Being patient, we can move mountains. I have been playing Tennis for the last twenty five years with the same enthusiasm. And yes, Tennis builds our character in learning to be self-disciplined. Col Pendyala Pradeep, Anaesthesiologist.

My favorite snacks...

Being an Indian Army officer for 33 long years, I traveled across the country and enjoyed its rich, vast and diverse culinary heritage. I love Indian snacks more than anything else. A traditional deep fried snack of India is often served with spicy green chutney and along with hot chai and is best eaten fresh. The cooking style from state to state has evolved not only with traditional family secrets but with influences from the Mughals, Britishers, Persians, French or the Portuguese. Panipuri is my favourite street snack. It consists of a round, hollow puri, fried crisp and filled with a mixture of flavored water, tamarind chutney, chili, chaat masala, potato, onion or chickpeas. I love chai with Pakoras, jalebis with samosa. Besides, Golgappa, gupchup or pani puri, I love Dhoklas. Dosas, Dahi vada, Murukku, Uttapam among south indian dishes. Rasgulla, Sandesh and Mishti Doi are my favourite Bengali sweets, not to forget, Jhal Moori of Bengal. And yes, Aloo chaat, Aloo tikki and namkeens of Haldiram are always my favorites. Love You Zindagi

Loving life is one of the most important changes you can make to have a happier and healthier life. The best way to live day to day is with love and appreciation. It happens to the best of us – life starts to stagnate and drag. When our day-to-day routine starts feeling more like a never-ending chore.Loving the life you have is not an event, it's a process. Too many of us are waiting for something big to change in our lives so that we can finally say we're truly happy. Many of us are unhappy in their lives. We believe that if only we earned more money, were thinner, were married (or single), had more friends, then we would be happy. What we fail to realize is that lasting happiness doesn't come from anything outside of ourselves. It's important to love the life you have, as this will generally improve your happiness.Falling back in love with your life is mostly about letting go and just tuning in—to your most authentic self and to the world and people around you...Love you Zindagi...Col Pendyala Pradeep.Anaesthesiologist.

Zest for living...

Oddly enough, zest can also be the outer peel of a lemon or orange, which chefs scrape into their dishes when they want to add some tartness and tanginess to a recipe. People who live with that same kind of spice are said to have a "zest for life." In other words, they live their lives with a lot of flavor and gusto. In positive psychology, zest is one of the 24 strengths possessed by humanity. As a component of the virtue of courage, zest is defined as living life with a sense of excitement, anticipation, and energy. Approaching life as an adventure; such that one has “motivation in challenging situations or tasks”.In the pantheon of human virtues, “zest”, that wholeheartedness of living, has a robust connection to a deep satisfaction in life. Yet while our children exhibit it naturally and beautifully, somewhere along the line most of us lose this flower-laden path to happiness and fulfillment. If you are moving with an eagerness in your heart, then you are alive..if you're moving with the sparks of dreams in your eyes, then you're alive...

Ae Phoolon . My tribute to Shankar-Jaikishan and Mohd Rafi...Col Pendyal...

Everyone can sing...

When I was a PG trainee ( Anesthesia ) at Command Hospital ( Air Force ) Bangalore during 1989-92, I was living an anonymous lifestyle. Nobody has ever heard me singing and I was a shy and a quiet person. My face hidden by a mask was rarely heard, moreover, those days, anesthesiologist's role was often unknown among patients. From Bangalore, I was posted at Rajouri, J&K, where I had transformed into a new person. I give credit to my transformation to Maj Gen Anju ManchandaShe noticed me as a singer and she permitted me to host Army Medical Corps Day functions. After that, there seems to have been no looking back...I hosted countless Army Medical Corps Days functions and performed in hundreds of stage shows since then. Frankly, I feel, everyone can sing and can become a good singer with enough practice and training. You need to lose your inhibitions, that's all. Everyone can easily turn the vicious cycle of anonymity into virtuous cycle of confidence and popularity, being liked, admired, or supported by many people. Col Pendyala Pradeep, Anaesthesiologist.

Motivation...

A motive is an impulse that causes a person to act. Motivation is an internal process that makes a person move toward a goal instead. Motivation can only be inferred by noting a person's behavior. We are essentially who we create ourselves to be and all that occur in our life is the result of our own making. The crux of the theory is that individuals' most basic needs must be met before they become motivated to achieve higher level needs. The true measure of our success is how many times we can bounce back from failure and that is motivation. There are certain factors in the workplace that cause job satisfaction, while a separate set of factors cause dissatisfaction. Although the world is full of suffering, it is also full of the overcoming of it with our motivation. Other people may not encourage us, It’s up to us to keep ourselves encouraged and be motivated always and happy always. Col Pendyala Pradeep, Anaesthesiologist.
