Nobody knows...

Nobody knows that my own uncle was once deputy speaker of 6th Lok Sabha...Sri Godey Murahari. I stayed with him in Delhi when he's a MP during 1975. He's also Rajya Sabha deputy chairman during 1972-77. He started his political career along with Sri George Fernandes of Samata Party an

d later joined Indian National Congress. Well, you can see me in this picture along with the then Defence Minister, Sri George Fernandes when he had visited the Bhachau sector of Bhuj during the well known Earthquake of 2001. I was in charge of the Operation Theatre of Bhachau for a record period of three months during those earthquake and aftershocks. I must have given anaesthesia to thousands of people those days at Bhachau and interestingly, not a single death. Believe it or not, I was a huge fan of Sri George Fernandes and his style of working and thinking.  ...Col Pradeep Pendyala, Professor, ASRAM.

Nobody knows

Nobody knows that I was part of the most dangerous and treacherous Black Rock expedition team which was conducted in 1984 at Tibet border. I was the only Army Medical Corps Medical officer with no other medical assistance in the team of seven Gorkha Soldiers ( including two Sherpas who successfully climbed Kanchenjunga earlier ) along with the team leader Maj RK Sharma. Our task was to ascertain the possibility of enemy infiltration using a virgin land. We did a patrol for seven days and nights nonstop walking with short halts and using our shakkar para and packed minced meat as the only diet while trekking at an altitude of 21000 ft above sea level. There used to be no Google maps those days ...the only reference used to be our compass for directions and our army map for reference... that's all. We celebrated diwali in our own way when we suddenly realised one night that it was actually Deepawali night. Maj RK Sharma is no more alive today. I was decorated with Army commander's commendation card for this act of bravery. Col Pradeep Pendyala, Anaesthesiologist.
