Strange but true
I used to sing only Mukesh songs all through my student days
and when I got married, I wanted to impress my wife with my repertoire of Mukesh songs
Alas, she never liked any songs of Mukesh
she felt that he has an irritating nasal twang
and her favourite singer was Kishore Kumar...
and naturally, by default I started learning Kishore's numbers...
and later, of course, Mohd Rafi and others...like Yesudas...
that's life....

They say marriages are made in heaven
and also Rab ne bana di jodhi
Marriage of an individual is the turning point of ones life
many marriages are successful
but many fail miserably
some say arranged marriages are safe and better
the GenNext believe in Love marriage
We keep seeing love marriages failing very badly
and similarly there's no guarantee of any success in an arranged marriage
Celebrity marriages rarely last
chat mangni pat vyaah too rarely last
Big fat Indian wedding often fail
in western countries marriage rarely last more than few years
Divorce is painful for the entire family besides being a mental trauma to the children
We pray to God to save marriages, save loving couples and save their children
We wish everyone to live happily ever after...

I always consider Bengalis to be most well read
They love reading and discussing politics, poetry
and traditional Bengal cuisine
Bengali women are most beautiful
Their language is extremely sweet..they can easily get away even after cuss and shout ...'cause even cuss words in Bengali sound sweet

My mother was a great cook
I think, all mothers are...
She used to be upset during her last days
because she was unable to cook my favourite dish
Chepala Pulusu...( machher jhol in Bengali )
A dish made with Fish and tangy tamarind sauce
which is also a delicacy of Andhra Pradesh.
This afternoon after many years after my mother's demise
I could taste the same perfect Chepala Pulusu
the same delicious taste of my mother's recipe
at the excellent Sunday buffet lunch at RSI
I went and personally thanked the cook
for making the perfect dish...
Once you start eating at RSI..my club
you will never go to any other place...

Vigilance

I always tell my staff in the Operation Theatre
Half of the catastrophe in OT can be avoided
by the vigilance of the OT staff

Another satisfying day...

Had another satisfying day at the Operation Theatre...
Had many surgeries followed by an emergency surgery on a 75 year old lady from Bihar...
She was refused surgery at four different nursing homes due to her critical condition
She was brought by her daughter in law...who was inconsolable..as her husband was away...
I found it very nice to see a lady concerned so much about her mother in law...
We did the best possible for the old lady..
And she is doing fine now after an emergency surgery...

Khul ke...

Today I met a lady at the Gym...
She told me she can recall vividly 
how beautifully I described her three years ago 
during her performance on the stage
Where I was the MC
I told her...it is very simple
When I describe someone
when I praise someone
and when I comment on someone
I am never constipated
I praise " khul Ke "

Disagreement...

If there's disagreement
Between anaesthetist and surgeon
Patient cannot do well
Similarly if there's disagreement
Between husband and wife
Child can never do well

MY FB & MY HT....

It has been five years since I joined Facebook...
When I joined Facebook I didn't know the ABC of Computers...
Gradually I learned computers and writing small notes on Facebook...
One of my Friends asked me to join one Anaesthesiologists' Closed group
I realized soon that my colleagues were liking my posts in the group
At the same time, I made friends with some well known writers on the Facebook..
Writing some sensible comments on my friends' posts became my routine
And that was the time somebody suggested me to write to newspapers on
the current topics...
And I started writing letters to editorials of various newspapers
And lo ! my letters started regularly being published in various newspapers
Within no time more than 75 letters of mine were published in Hindustan Times
and many other newspapers...
At the same time, I started counselling many teenagers on various topics
mostly regarding their career
And lo ! many of my teen friends could join some of the best medical colleges
And yes, I was also giving free advice to many of my Facebook friends
on various medical problems
And lo ! many were cured and started leading happy lives
And yes, I won't name my friends here
Because I love confidentiality in such matters...
I am sure, many of my Friends would be reading my present post
and would accept it in toto...

Passion...??

A well known orator and a public figure was giving a lecture on "passion "
He suddenly asked the audience to translate it into Hindi..
Not waiting for the answers from the audience he went on to explain it himself
He explained the closest meaning of passion in Hindi to be Junoon...
I was the only person in the huge audience to disagree
I translated it to be Jazba..which is more apt, I said
Junoon has a negative element attached to it
whereas jazba is a positive word for passion
Initially he disagreed in front of his audience
but later during the tea session he called me and said I was right...!!

Recently, I saw a post going viral on Facebook and Whatsapp
the man was sad and depressed
until he sees a beautiful lady with a missing leg, beautiful boy being blind
a beautiful person found to be deaf and 
a beautiful lady being mute...
I find it strange to appreciate and like/share such posts
It signifies only one thing...
we are sadistic

There used to be a TV serial Udhan on DD national between 1989-91
I never missed a single episode of that serial
It was based on a real life story of the elder sister of the protagonist of the serial
Kavita Chaudhary....
The story was based on various struggles of an ordinary girl from humble background aspiring to become an IPS officer...and the story thereof...
I can never forget each episode of that serial
I still consider it to be one of the best TV serial ever made....
Udhan....I salute to the makers of that serial...
and of course, Kavita Chaudhury....

I always advice them to have a child adopted
Strangely, I have noticed
they are blessed with their own biological child
after adopting a child...

Just saw the movie Bobby Jasoos
Vidya Balan had an exceptional role
The movie keeps you engrossed
the person who acted as her father was too good
Kiran kumar, Supriya Pathak and Tanvi azmi were very impressive
Tasavvur was good but not a suitable match for mature Vidya balan...
Hero was looking like a teenager hence he was miscast for the role
If your personality is impressive you can be impressive in any type of role
That is the reason Vidya balan, her father, Tanvi, Supriya and Kiran Kumar..and the movie is worth watching...

And FB brought me to the place where I'm today

Interestingly, some of my Friends on Facebook..
have complained openly that I don't respond to their comments...
well, dear Friends..I'll give you one example...
I must have got more than 400 birthday wishes on 6 July 2014 on FB...
And I made sure, 
I replied individually to cent percent of my friends
On the same day i.e. on 6 July 2014
And I think, 
Nobody on Facebook might have done that...
Moreover, I also made a Soundcloud clip on the same day
and posted on Facebook...
and thanked all of my well wishers...

With age we tend to become subdued and quiet
we rarely see old people being very agile and active
Now, the situation is different
Earlier, people above 55 were known to be old
and were expected to retire and live a lonely, spiritual and quiet life
they were believed to be spending rest of their life in pilgrimage
and telling stories to their grandchildren
Now, things are different...
Now, they are seen, heard and respected till their very ripe age
