Happy Birthday...

Dear Friends, I don't like politics
and I am apolitical
But I would like to wish a political figure
A Happy Birthday ( 17 September )
one who sold tea as a boy at a railway station
who evokes emotions like no other
with an ability to transform every adversity into an opportunity
taking control of one of India's most developed state
with no administrative experience until then
but dumping those who helped him to go up the ladder
Lal Krishna Advani mentored Modi when he was unknown
His father Damodardas made tea at a small shop
the son would take it in a kettle to sell it to train passengers
at the Vadnagar railway station
he displayed skills at oratory even at school
Modi graduated in political science from Delhi University
and went on to do his Masters from Gujarat University
his present day identity is largely influenced by 2002 communal violence widely blamed for conspiring with Hindu rioters against Muslims
over 1,000 of whom died in that carnage
he faced the prospect of being sacked only after a few months in office
as Atal Bihari Vajpayee was deeply anguished over Gujarat carnage
But Advani came to Modi's rescue
and he never looked back.
