VSM....

Last evening was not an unusual evening, I was busy organizing, compering and singing at the Karaoke night which I had conducted many times earlier...but it turned out to be a rare and most unforgettable evening for me ...I was encouraging children, elders, ladies and others to participate in my program..and many gentlemen and ladies & children participated who were first time singers onstage after my encouragement...at that time, a very smart couple approached me with a broad smile on their faces and asked me to recognize them...I told them, I definitely felt that I know the gentleman very well but I couldn't place him...then they told me he was my patient 13 years ago and who was saved by me...Yes, I could place him immediately and told the gentleman's name correctly. The couple were so exited meeting me...they were taking pictures with me and also telling everyone about me.
This patient was put on Ventilator after developing ARDS and he was on ventilator for a record eighteen days, three attempts to wean him out of ventilator failed...I used to sleep in the ICU with him those days on the very next bed for eighteen days, lest, my ventilator stop working and yes, it did three times...I could understand everything the patient wanted to communicate in sign language while on ventilator which even his wife couldn't understand many a time...I was recommended strongly for a VSM for this sincere effort...but I never received it...but yes, I received my VSM last evening in the joy and expressions of the couple...Col Pendyala Pradeep, Anaesthesiologist,
