I
find it strange when people say that the present songs are crap and
rubbish with no lyrics and with some stupid music by some daft music
director done in a jiffy. Sorry folks, I don't believe this. I have been
listening to Bollywood music since many
decades and know most of the songs. Yes, you may be right in saying
earlier the music used be less in the background and lyrics were given
importance. But you are forgetting the fact that those days there used
to be practically no competition amongst playback singers, the singer
had to be a Lata, Asha, Kishore, Mohd Rafi or a Mukesh..that's all. Each
song used to be composed in few months to few years with minimal usage
of instruments. Now, the competition is tremendous, there are singers
dime a dozen, each better than the other. Same song is sung sometimes by
three singers in the same movie e.g. in the movie Special 26 the song
Kaun Mera was sung by A Mahanta ( Papon ), Sunidhi Chauhan and a
newcomer Chaitra Ambadpudi, and Chaitra sang the best.
We love old songs because we have grown with those songs, not because they are better. The present songs are equally good rather better, trust me...!!
